Bill Shimuk - Black Belt, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

I still remember my first Martial Arts class: I was nervous and knew nothing about the techniques or training. I only knew that I wanted to learn. With time, it became natural to train and Martial Arts became my passion. I trained in Aikido, Judo and of course Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Over time I have had the honor to train with & learn from Pro MMA fighters and BJJ World Champions. Looking to get to the "source", I traveled several times to Brazil, training at the birthplace of Modern BJJ. Always to learn.

Today as the Lead Grappling Instructor at Threshold, I enjoy blending innovative techniques and solid basics skills. As a result, my instruction provides emphasis on Self Defense, Throws & Take downs as well as Sweeps, Holds and Chained Submissions.

Lineage: Mitsuyo "Count Koma" Maeda → Carlos Gracie, Sr. - Helio Gracie → Rolls Gracie → Romero "Jacaré" Cavalcanti - Bill Shimuk.

Dorothy Day - Women's Kickboxing Instructor

I used to be a typical gym dropout. I always felt most gyms where a little stale with repetitive workouts & that they lacked a sense of community. As a result, I found myself unmotivated & saw limited results. Also, I was never really an athlete, but one day I decided to try Kickboxing at Threshold Martial Arts. There, I experienced caring Instructors, challenging workouts & felt a state of mental clarity after class that became addicting. After time, I found myself competing in Muay Thai & doing extremely well! Today, as an instructor, I bring the same challenging workouts & caring approach to Threshold’s Women’s Kickboxing class. Beginners welcome!
